Yogis for Palestine presents a summer yoga and healing series for sumud

Sumud, an Arabic term that means steadfastness, holds significance in Palestinian culture; sumud invokes a sense of resilience and determination. Despite the Zionist attempts to erase the Palestinian people through genocide, Palestinians remain steadfast in their commitment to endure. Sumud invites us to cultivate steadfastness in our solidarity with the Palestinian liberation struggle.

As the resurgence of Zionist aggression against Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank enters a new phase, we continue our fight for Palestinian liberation. After Israel’s betrayal of the ceasefire talks, and over 550 days of watching acts of terror against the Palestinian people and their allies, it is tempting to numb ourselves. At Y4P, we choose not to numb, but instead offer a space where we can cultivate ‘sumud’ and hold space for our collective grief and healing in order to transform the heartbreak and devastation into sustained action. Gleaning from the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, we use our practice to demand an end to Israel’s genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestine.

These fundraiser-based offerings are for beginners and experienced yogis alike. They will include breath work, movement, and meditations for processing anger and grief. Our intention is for you to leave feeling connected, replenished, and renewed in our efforts to support Palestinian resistance.

These offerings will be held on the first Thursdays of the month from May to August

Those dates are:

  • May 1 with Sheena Sood

  • June 5 with jean-jacques gabriel

  • July 3 with Alicia Atkinson
